To enhance livelihood opportunities and improve the well-being of the most vulnerable people in Somalia, including orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs), internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and those affected by calamities, through comprehensive programs and interventions that promote resilience, sustainable development, and community empowerment.

ABOUT US

Muhiim organization(M.O) is a youth organization that supports and empowers people in South Central regions in Somalia who have been affected by prolonged period of conflict/violent extremisms, political instability and poverty by providing integrated youth and adults development programs including basic literacy and numeracy education; job creation and employable skills, build their capacity on life skills, youth leadership and political participation; peace building by engaging local communities on safety and security and promotion of children’s rights awareness through sports and recreational activities and Health/ Nutrition sensitization.

PROGRAMS TO EMPOWER OTHERS

Gender-based violence(GBV)

Muhiim is deeply committed to working against GBV in South Central Somalia. The organization recognizes that GBV is a pervasive issue that affects the safety, wellbeing, and rights of individuals, particularly women and girls.

Climate Change Adaptation

Recognizing the significant impact of climate change on vulnerable communities, Muhiim focuses on building climate change adaptation and resilience in South Central Somalia.

Food Security and Livelihoods

Our organization implements programs and interventions aimed at improving access to nutritious food, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and enhancing income-generating activities related to food production and processing.

Education and youth empowerment

Muhiim establishes safe learning environments, provides educational materials, supports school enrollment, and advocates for the rights of children and hearing the voice of Somali youth.

Women Empowerment

Muhiim promotes for the empowerment of women and girls. We are committed to ensuring they have access to a high-quality education and a life free of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse.

Protection for Person with disability

Muhiim develops training, innovative, and supportive programs for people with disabilities and knows the significance of providing a secure environment for PWD to communicate their emotions, thoughts, and skills.

WASH

Shelter and Basic Services: Muhiim addresses the immediate needs of IDPs, returnees, and those affected by calamities by providing emergency shelter, clean water, sanitation facilities, and access to essential services.

Peacebuilding and stabilization

Muhiim is committed to building a secure and stable Somalia. M.O fosters peace initiatives by involving local communities in dialogue about safety and security.

WHAT DOES M.O DO?

Influenced by the new development paradigm, which puts people before things, M.O follows a participatory approach in every sphere of its work. The traditional knowledge of the rural poor is valued and respected, and there is confidence that rural people are capable of selfreliant organization. On a practical level, the fundamental thrust of this approach is decentralization and empowered

M.O strongly believes in maximizing its impact by transferring field experiences into knowledge to influence the development policies and practices of NGOs, donors and M O Profile Page 16 government agencies. This is important for working towards the long-term goal of eradicating poverty and ensuring stability.
